A Veteran’s Day Message
Today Americans pause to remember and honor those who have answered the Nation’s call.
Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.
The current Parke Bench contains an interesting article about how several Parke residents have personal connections with events of 100 years ago.
Whether the service occurred long ago or recently, The Parke extends appreciation to all those who have served.
Thank you!
