Java Info Hour – The Communications Advisory Committee sponsors a monthly information program. These occur from September through May, excluding December, normally on the first Friday at 10:00 AM. The topics vary greatly, but all sessions are focused on topics of interest to our residents.

Memoirs Workshop – The memoir workshop is designed for those individuals who want to write their personal experiences, family history, or memories for future generations, or just for their own satisfaction.  The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month for two hours in September, October, and November, and from January through April.  Meeting times are staggered between morning and afternoon.

Wine Appreciation – This group meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 2:30-4:30 PM at the Clubhouse. Each month, a member selects a theme. This member chooses a wine (such as Port, wines with funny labels, sparkling wines, wines from Oregon or Virginia, as examples). Members bring their own glasses, a light snack to share, and a themed bottle of wine to share. This member(s) is responsible for setting up the meeting space usually in the Library, leading the information session, and ensuring clean up to ready the Library for its next day’s use by Parke residents. All participating members should provide cheese, crackers, fruit, dips, something to share with the group.

Each individual or couple brings a bottle of wine based on the selected theme own wine glass. Members share information about the wine they have chosen. this information is usually obtained from the Internet or the wine store from which the wine was purchased. The cost of the bottle is discussed and should stay under $20.00 with most wines costing between $7.00 and $15.00.
